Abstract:
Women's empowerment is inextricably linked to education. In reality, higher education for women plays a critical role in empowering women, as. According to Pandit Jawaharlal, if a woman is educated, she educates her family. Education is a fundamental human right, and it is required, regardless of gender. The current study is qualitative and relies on secondary sources. The study tries to get insight on status of women in higher education institutions in Sivasagar District of Assam. From the data the study reveals that women's enrolment and pass percentage are greater, while women's employment in the teaching and non-teaching sectors is lower.
