Dr. Gopal Sharma is currently working as a Scientist at North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Shillong, Department of Space, Government of India. He received his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbadand M.Sc (Applied Geology) from Anna University, Chennai. He served IIRS-ISRO, Dehradun during 2014-2017 and contributed in the installation, monitoring, maintenance and data processing of ISRO's GNSS Stations at Higher and Frontal Himalaya before joining NESAC. He was deputed to UNAVCO at Colorado, USA during the service to understand GNSS data processing & Analysis for earthquake research. His area of research includes: Earthquake precursors, Crustal Deformation & strain accumulation measurements. Presently, his research focus on large network GNSS Ionosphere variability for earthquake precursor’s detection. He has published 20+ journal papers of repute in his field of research and has presented his research in many national and international forums. He has acted as a reviewer for many journals such as AGU (Radio Science), Quaternary international, Geodesy and Geodynamics, Quaternary science advances, Ground water for sustainable development, Indian Society of Geomaticsetc to name few. Currently he is also supervising one international Ph.D Scholar (Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico) and has guided more than 25 post graduate research projects. Apart from research activities, he has completed many projects funded by organizations such as Meghalaya Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Dalmia Cement Ltd., Meghalaya Electricity Corporation Ltd (MeECL)., Star Cement Ltd., etc., for complying requirements of space technology inputs as per instructions from competent authority.
