Dr. Girija Phadke-Behere is currently working as State Co-ordinator in Network for Fish Quality Management and Sustainable Fishing (NETFISH)- The Marine Product Export Development Authority (MPEDA) under MoCI, GoI. She pursued her Ph.D in Fish Processing Technology as DST-INSPIRE Fellow from College of Fisheries, Mangalore on the topic “Properties of bioactive peptides derived from seafood processing waste by enzymatic hydrolysis and fermented fish products”. She did her Masters as well as Bachelors degree in the field of Fisheries Science. She worked in various capacities from Senior Research Fellow to Livelihood Specialist in renowned Central and State Government Institutions in the field of Research and Development, Training, Teaching and Extension work. She has received several awards including Gold medals for BFSc and MFSc, Prestigious DST-INSPIRE Fellowship, Chancellors Award from Governor of Maharashtra as Best Student of University, Top ten Best Fisheries Graduates of India, Best MFSc Thesis presentation award, Tejaswini Kanya Award (State Level Award) for Academic Excellence from MAVIM (MahilaAarthik Vikas Mahamandal, Government of Maharashtra, StreeKartrutvaSanman on 8th March, 2021 from Anahat Events PR and Rotary Club of Dombivli, Research Excellence Award – 2021 for her PhD work. She is recognized reviewer of Journal of Food Engineering, European Journal of Nutrition and Food Safety, PLOS ONE, International Journal of Science of Food and Agriculture and many more journals. In the field of publications, she is having 27 Research Publications/ Review Articles in International and National Peer Reviewed Journals, 2 International Publishers books, 9 book chapters, 13 training manuals, 25 popular articles, more than 20 abstracts, 6 web articles and 14 leaflets to her credit. She skill fully links human resources with research through training programmes and multidisciplinary collaborations to continue her innovative approach towards bringing the excellence in the field.
