Mr. Sumanth B. is a Research Scholar and Pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Jnana Bharathi Campus, Bangalore University, Bangalore, India. Before joining the Ph.D. program, He has completed his M.Sc. degree in Microbiology from the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Bangalore University, Bangalore, India, in 2014. Before that, he had completed his B.Sc. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Genetics from Vijaya College, R V Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore, affiliated to Bangalore University in 2012. In his Ph.D.(Microbiology), he is working on the Diversity of endophytic fungi and their seasonal variations in medicinal plants of the Western Ghats of Karnataka. The purification and characterization of secondary metabolites from these endophytic fungi and their bioactivity. The synthesis of metallic nanoparticles from these endophytic fungi and their antibiotic potential. He has published two research papers in international journals with impact factors. He has also presented his research work in 7 international and 9 National conferences and 5 State level conferences, received awards for the same. Achievements: • Cleared KSET examination in the year 2014. • Cleared ICAR- ASRB NET examination in the year 2018. • Awarded the Devraj Urs fellowship for Ph.D. scholars from the state government for the duration of two years (from 2016 to 2018). • Best paper presentation award for oral presentation for the paper entitled "Mycogeneic synthesis of extracellular ZnO NPs synthesis." in National Conference on phytochemicals and microbial bioactive compounds – Role in agriculture and Human welfare organized by department of microbiology and biotechnology, Bangalore University. • Best poster award for the paper entitled "Dimethyl Sulfoxide- a wonder drug." in the National Conference 'Emerging trends in chemistry with emphasis on Environment' organized by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Vijaya College. • Secured first prize for the poster presentation in the National conference' Bioactive compounds and therapeutics" organized by P.G. Department of life sciences, Oxford College of Science. • Secured second prize in oral presentation for the paper entitled "Green synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles using C.roseus and its applications." in the International conference "Nanobio, Biomimetic materials, and its applications" organized by Hindustan college of arts and science, Coimbatore. • Secured second prize in oral presentation for the paper entitled "Zinc oxide nanoparticles and its antimicrobial properties." in the National conference "Beyond the Frontiers in Science and Technology" organized by P.G. Department of life sciences, Oxford College of Science. • Young achiever award received young achiever award from InSC for the year 2020 for the research article published in international journal of nanomedicine. • Reviewer for many national and international journals like international journal of biological sciences, International journal of botany studies.
