I am working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology, University of Madras, Guindy campus , Chennai. Previously I have worked as an assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, Annamalai University from November, 2001. The major area of my specialization is on the identification, separation and characterization of lead Phytochemicals from the Medicinal plants and to test them against heavy metals induced oxidative stress mediated multiple organ dysfunctions in rats. Medicinal plants represent the rich repository of natural products for the discovery of compounds with pharmacological properties like antoxidant, anti-hepatotoxic, antinephrotoxic, anti-carcinogenic, antibiotic, growth promoting or inhibiting, hemolytic analgesic, hypotensive and hypertensive agents. Most of the medicinal plants represent untapped resources of useful compounds or lead compounds for drugs against metal induced. Currently i am involving in the eco-toxicological research about the organ toxic effects of heavy metals and their chelation by phytoconstituents. I have published more than 83 international peer-reviewed papers, 7 book chapters and 3 books with a total impact factor 162. 05 with a H-index 25 and 3110 citations and ResearchGate score of 32.7. Ranked top 2% highly cited researchers by the Stanford University, UK IN 2021. Received many Awards and recognitions from national and international accredited bodies for research excellence and I have organized two national conferences and workshops in environmental toxicology and completed one UGC Major Research project in toxicology. I have reviewed around 3 international research projects from different funding agencies from Poland, UAE and Egypt. I had delivered many oral invited lectures in national/international conferences and academies. I am serving as a life member of several national and international academies and societies. I have been serving as an expert, evaluator and scrutinizer in many government organized committees. I have guided 5 Ph.d's and 19 M.Phil Scholars and many PG projects. I am serving as an editorial board member of more than 20 peer referred journals and section editor of frontiers in Pharmacology(Phytotherapy) I have reviewed more than 350 peer referred articles in almost all the leading scientific publication services including Nature, Frontiers, John-wiley, Blackwell-synergy, springer, elsevier, sage, rsc, acs, crs,crc, bentham..etc.
