Dr. Niraj Tripathi is working as Research Associate at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur in the All India Network Project on Harvesting, Processing and Value Addition of Natural Resins and Gums. While working in this Project he has developed a DNA based method for verification of Boswellia serrata gum as adulterant in gum oleo-resin of Commiphora wightii. He is also an inventor of the novel method for counting lac insects and small insects on plants. His special interest lies in characterization as well as conservation of plant genetic resources. He is a life member of The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), and Society for Advancement of Natural Resins and Gums (SANRAG). Concurrently, he is also working towards providing supports to the postgraduate and doctoral students working in the field of molecular breeding and plant biotechnology. At present he is actively involved in characterization and conservation of endangered medicinally important plant species Commiphora wightii. Since 2008, he has gained molecular experiences related to crop improvement. For the past 13 years, his work exclusively focused on DNA fingerprinting of plant genetic resources and molecular breeding. He is experienced with the development of molecular markers based novel technology for the identification and authentication of crop varieties/cultivars. Dr. Tripathi has submitted 148 sequences in the public database National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). He has one book and 5 chapters published in the national and international books. Dr. Tripathi has published more than 75 scientific papers in the reputed international and National Journals. He has filed 14 patent applications in Indian Patent Office and among them one patent granted to him by Government of India recently.
